Ibogaine in the United States

Ibogaine is a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States. No clinic can legally offer it as a treatment, and the US entries below are either clinical trials or programs that treat opioid dependence without ibogaine. Almost everyone who travels for ibogaine goes to Mexico.

Legal context: Ibogaine is a Schedule I controlled substance under US federal law. It can only be given inside an approved clinical trial. No clinic in the United States can legally offer it as a treatment. Full guide to US law, the 2026 executive order and the state programs
