Mexico 25 Ibogaine is unregulated in Mexico: not scheduled and not approved as a medicine. There is no ibogaine-specific licence; some clinics state a general COFEPRIS health-facility licence on their sites. Most programs that serve Americans are here.
Canada 5 Ibogaine was added to Canada's Prescription Drug List in 2017. It cannot be sold without authorisation, and clinic access is limited.
Costa Rica 5 Ibogaine is not illegal and not regulated in Costa Rica. Programs run from retreat properties and private clinics.
Bahamas 2 The Bahamas is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked; programs there describe ibogaine as legal to administer. Treat that as the program's statement.
Brazil 2 The state of Sao Paulo approved ibogaine for prescription use in January 2016. Programs there run under physician supervision, some in hospital settings.
Gabon 2 Iboga is a traditional Bwiti sacrament in Gabon and is governed by the Culture Ministry; export needs approval under a 1994 cultural-protection law. Retreats offer traditional ceremonies rather than medical treatment.
United States 2 (clinical trials only), plus ANR (no ibogaine) Ibogaine is a Schedule I controlled substance under US federal law. It can only be given inside an approved clinical trial. No clinic in the United States can legally offer it as a treatment.
Malta 1 Malta is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked. One clinic group opened a Malta site in November 2025.
Portugal 1 Possession of all drugs was decriminalised in Portugal in 2001. Ibogaine programs operate there without a specific licence.
Spain 1 Spain is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked. A few programs have operated there.
Thailand 1 Thailand is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked; a small number of programs have advertised there.
Australia 0 Ibogaine is a Schedule 4 prescription-only medicine in Australia (since 2010). Access depends on a prescriber.
Colombia 0 Colombia is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked. A few retreat-style programs operate.
Guatemala 0 Guatemala is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked. One or two retreat programs operate.
Netherlands 0 Ibogaine is not prohibited in the Netherlands and is not scheduled. Providers have operated there for years.
New Zealand 0 Ibogaine has been a non-approved prescription medicine in New Zealand since 2009. Physicians can prescribe it.
Peru 0 Peru is not covered by the legal-status sources we checked. A few retreat-style programs operate alongside ayahuasca centers.
South Africa 0 Ibogaine is a Schedule 6 substance in South Africa (since 2016), so it can be given by a licensed professional on prescription.

Legal notes follow the country table in Legal status of ibogaine by country (Wikipedia, read 2026-10-20) unless a program profile cites something more specific. Countries that table does not cover are marked as such. Laws change; check with a lawyer in the country concerned.
